It’s finally happening! Seven Seas have obtained the print license for Tokyo Revengers by Ken Wakui and it is getting an omnibus release. It was released digitally by Kodansha and it received an anime adaptation, but this is the first time that the series will be printed with English translation. Seven Seas announced that they are releasing Candy and Cigarettes by Tomonori Inoue (Coppelion) for the first time in North America as well.
Since the time of writing this post, I have reviewed the Tokyo Revengers omnibuses. I showcase the editions, both the Barnes and Noble and standard versions, that are releasing on July 26, 2022!
The Tokyo Revengers omnibuses are going to be oversized 2-in-1 paperback editions that feature new design, oversized trim, and lettering. There is going to be a standard edition but also a Barnes & Noble exclusive edition of the first omnibus, which comes with a variant cover and double-sided foldout poster. The first omnibus is releasing on July 26, 2022 for $22.99 USD.
Other details we learned from Seven Seas on their official Twitter account is that the manji symbol is not going to be censored or changed in the upcoming omnibus release. They will also be releasing a new omnibus every three months.
Tokyo Revengers follows Hanagaki Takemichi. After biting off more than he could chew with a gang in middle school, he ran away from his old life. Now that he’s an adult, the gang that once terrorized him has grown into the largest gang in Tokyo, and they’ve started killing people–including his old girlfriend.
After learning this news, a mysterious force on a train platform shoves Takemichi right in front of an approaching train. As his life flashes before his eyes, he blinks to find himself transported back to middle school, before he fled from the gang! Now he has the chance to right what went wrong all those years ago. Can he save his girlfriend’s life in the future–and what else might he change if he’s rewriting the past?
Tokyo Revengers is one of the manga that we wanted physical copies of the most, so we can’t wait for these omnibuses to release. Plus, it’s added to an already strong year of manga releases!
