The official Twitter accounts for FromSoftware and Elden Ring previously confirmed that an upcoming expansion titled “Shadow of the Erdtree” is in development with the message “Rise, Tarnished, and let us walk a new path together”. Now, Bandai Namco Entertainment and FromSoftware have officially announced that it is arriving on June 21, 2024, alongside the release of a new trailer. The new DLC will be available to play on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via STEAM.
After months of speculation, further fueled by FromSoftware’s teasers that more content for Elden Ring is coming soon, we can finally rejoice that a DLC for the game is coming. It’s a fitting time for the announcement, especially given that it was revealed not shortly after Elden Ring’s 1st anniversary.
In addition to the message, a teaser image was released for the expansion of a character, who is speculated but not yet confirmed to be Miquella, riding on a horse. A DLC that centers around Miquella would be amazing. We know of Miquella from our battle with Mohg, our talks with other characters in the game, and our journey into Miquella’s Haligtree, where his sister Malenia resides.
We now have a more detailed description of the upcoming expansion from Bandai Namco: “The Land of Shadow. A place obscured by the Erdtree. Where the goddess Marika first set foot. A land purged in an unsung battle. Set ablaze by Messmer’s flame. It was to this land that Miquella departed. Divesting himself of his flesh, his strength, his lineage. Of all things Golden. And now Miquella awaits the return of his promised Lord.”
The DLC will see us entering the Land of Shadow, where we will be met with several new bosses, notably Mesmer the Impaler, as well as discover new weapons and armor.
Elden Ring is one of the best games I’ve ever played, and it is the best game to release in 2022, so I can’t wait to see what FromSoft has in store for us soon with the upcoming DLC! As new details about the Elden Ring DLC are revealed, I will update this post, so stay tuned for more.
