After a four-year hiatus, Yoshihiro Togashi teased Hunter x Hunter‘s return on Twitter. With so many false reports, April Fools’ jokes, and claims popping up over the years, I had to pinch myself and ask myself whether or not this was true before posting, but this time, it’s actually finally happening. It was further confirmed that new chapters will be released in Japan on October 24th, 2022 along with the reveal of the cover for Hunter x Hunter, Volume 37.
Yoshihiro Togashi recently created a Twitter account to tweet that Hunter x Hunter would be returning from hiatus, starting with the release of four new chapters. The announcement was further teased with an image that looks to be a rough sketch of a new manga panel.
The authenticity of the newly opened Twitter account came into question, but its validity was later confirmed by Yusuke Murata, one of the creators of One Punch Man as well as one of my top football manga, Eyeshield 21.
Hunter x Hunter, Volume 36, which was the last volume to release, came out in Japan in 2018 and was later released with English translation in 2019, so it’s exciting to hear of its return. It’s such exciting news that Hunter x Hunter is now trending worldwide. While I’m happy to hear of its return, I will say that this hiatus was much needed given that Yoshihiro Togashi has health issues. Oftentimes, fans will get quite brazen in their wants and needs from a manga creator, but the support and love shown for him was abundant as well.
Hunter x Hunter‘s manga has been released since the late 90’s, and it is still one of the highest-rated and best shonen manga of all time. You can pick up all of the Hunter x Hunter volumes that have been released so far at one of the trusted manga retailers below! I also included Yoshihiro Togashi and Yusuke Murata’s tweets below if you’d like to check them out.
