Aniplex of America has a reputation for its high-quality anime releases, and now they’re stepping up their game with their first-ever 4K box set: the Gurren Lagann Movies 4K Box Set. This set includes both films, Gurren Lagann The Movie: Childhood’s End and The Lights in the Sky Are Stars.
Previously, they released a Complete Box Set of the main Gurren Lagann series, which includes all 27 episodes and the two films in standard HD. But, this is the first time the films will be available in 4K in the US. The new box set not only collects the films in 4K but also includes audio commentaries and a special leaflet, all of which are packaged in a vibrant box featuring artwork of the characters. Both English and Japanese audio tracks are available, with English subtitles.
If you are new to Gurren Lagann, it is set in a distant future where humanity has lived underground for centuries. We follow the story of two young men, Simon and Kamina, who live in a subterranean village. Their lives change forever when a massive robot called a “Gunmen” and a mysterious girl named Yoko descend from the surface. With the help of the mecha “Lagann,” unearthed by Simon, they venture above ground to discover the world that Kamina has always dreamed of.
