Genshin Impact is an action RPG game developed by HoYoverse that features a beautiful open world that I always thought would translate wonderfully into an anime. In the game, you are a Traveler, a mysterious character, who is thrust into the world of Teyvat. Paimon, a NPC who accompanies you as your guide, as well as the Knights of Favonius, who you unlock as playable characters, assist you on your journey across this new land as you search for your sibling, who was captured.
Genshin Impact is a great game for anime fans, who are looking for an open world to explore, beautifully crafted cut scenes, incredible graphics, and a familiar yet unique story, so it’s no surprise to me that its getting an anime. The news of an anime is exciting enough, but it’s the choice of animation studio that has me even more excited. Ufotable, the studio behind Fate/Zero, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, and Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] is animating the upcoming Genshin Impact anime.
Known for their their striking backgrounds and settings and stunning action and battle scenes, Ufotable is the perfect studio for the job. With the justice they’ve done to the Fate franchise, in particular, with Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] and Fate/Zero I can’t wait to see what they do with Genshin Impact, especially after watching the teaser they released.
Not only was it confirmed that a Genshin Impact anime is on the way, but HoYoverse announced that their collaboration with Ufotable is going to be a “Long-Term Project”. I myself have spent hours upon hours in Teyvat, so I’m looking forward to experiencing it all over again in the anime.
