Anime Adaptation for Shinobu Ohtaka’s Orient Confirmed

Orient by Shinobu Ohtaka, who you may also know as the creator of Magi, is getting an anime adaptation as confirmed by Kodansha who publishes the manga. Along with the announcement, they revealed a teaser video for the upcoming Orient anime.

The synopsis for Orient is as follows:

At age 10, best friends Musashi and Kojiro sat in silence as Kojiro’s father spun tales of evil demons who preyed on the innocent and the warriors who defeated them. While practicing swordplay one day, the two swear an oath to become the strongest in the world. But as they grow up, Kojiro turns cynical and Musashi comes to realize that he can’t turn back 150 years of demon rule on his own. Thought of by many as a prodigy with a pickaxe, he’s about to settle for a life of labor; However, he can’t shake the feeling that he still has a responsibility to act and soon the injustices of this world will force his hand.

At the time of writing this post, eleven volumes of the series have been released in Japan so far, but the first volume is just now releasing with English translation on January 26, 2021.
