FREEing has announced a new Demon Slayer figure called the Complete Edition Rengoku figure that will set you back a whopping $2,969.99 or more depending on what site you preorder it on. It is expected to ship out sometime in February 2022. Also, I want to note that shipping costs are currently being calculated for this product.
Why does this anime figure cost so much? Honestly, I couldn’t tell you why. The figure does include an effect part that is made of polystone, which is a higher-quality material, but the figure itself is still made of PVC according to the listing. That being said, this is a 1/4 scale PVC anime figure with a polystone effect part placed around it.
I want to talk about anime statues real quick because there’s a lot you can get for the price of the FREEing Rengoku Complete Edition figure. There are licensed studios like Prime 1 Studio, Figurama, and more that make anime statues that are cheaper than this figure. Not only that, but they are packed full of detail and most come with swap-outs, like portrait, weapon, and hand swapouts. On top of all that, they are made fully of high-quality materials like polystone and resin, including the characters.
To give you guys an idea as to what this figure costs more than, it is more expensive than what Prime 1 Studio’s 1/3 scale Guts, The Black Swordsman statue as well as Jimei Palace’s Pain statue cost me with shipping included. Both are licensed studios. It also costs more than Prime 1 Studio’s My Hero Academia statue of Bakugo, Deku, and Todoroki, which has not just one but three 1/4 scale characters on it. I just wanted to let you guys know about these options before you decided to purchase the FREEing Rengoku Complete Edition figure in case you weren’t already aware of them.
There is, however, another version available for purchase that includes just the figure of Rengoku which costs around $362.99. It comes in 1/4 scale, which is a scale that companies have been charging higher prices for as seen with the Takara Tomy figures of Deku and Bakugo. This means that the polystone flame effect part is going to cost you around $2607 if you want the Complete Edition.
Prices of anime figures have been getting higher and higher lately, and while some warrant the cost, this one is quite overpriced. That being said, I’m sure there are buyers out there for this figure, and while the price has come into question, it got people talking. I am all for companies making higher-quality anime figures, but to compete with the licensed anime statue studios, they are going to have to find a way to lower the cost to capture this market.
